Materials and Tools Required

– Notched trowel
– Grout
– Grout float
– Level
– Spacers
– Sponge
– Bucket
Surface Preparation
Ensure that the shower wall is clean, dry, and free from any debris or irregularities.
If necessary, patch any holes or cracks in the wall using a suitable patching compound.
Apply a primer to the wall to enhance the adhesion of the thin-set mortar.
Applying Thin-Set Mortar
Using a notched trowel, apply a thin layer of thin-set mortar to the back of the border trim.
Hold the trowel at an angle of 45 degrees and spread the mortar evenly over the surface.
Ensure that the notches in the trowel create small ridges in the mortar, which will allow for better adhesion between the trim and the wall.
Installing the Border Trim
Carefully align the border trim with the wall and press it firmly into the mortar with your hands.
Use a level to check for any unevenness and adjust accordingly.
Insert spacers between the border trim and the existing tile to create consistent grout lines.
Setting and Grouting
Allow the thin-set mortar to set for the recommended time specified by the manufacturer.
Mix the grout according to the manufacturer’s instructions and apply it to the joints between the border trim and the existing tile using a grout float.
Press the grout firmly into the joints, ensuring that they are completely filled.
Cleaning and Finishing
Once the grout has set, use a damp sponge to wipe away any excess material from the surface of the border trim.
Allow the grout to dry completely before applying a sealant to protect it from moisture and stains.
Remove the spacers and enjoy your beautifully trimmed shower tile border.
